Client portal

Training doesn’t end at the gym

What we have trained together, why we chose it and how it's developing. All in one place you can reach from anywhere, at any time.

Everyone I train gets the portal. It isn't a paid extra and there's nothing to install. You open it in the browser on your phone or computer. An app is coming this winter, more on that below.

Drag to turn it around.

A plan, not a list of exercises

Every exercise says what we're working on with it. Not “3 × 12 reps”, but why this particular movement, what to watch out for and what should improve by next time.

A month later you don’t have to remember what we did, you can read it. And when you train on your own, you know what to do.

Tuesday 19 Aug, 60 min

Hip hinge and single-leg work

Romanian deadlift with dumbbells

3 sets × 8 reps, 2 min rest

The weight travels down along your thighs, not forward. The goal isn't depth but a back that stays straight. Once it starts to round, the set is over.

Bulgarian split squat

3 sets × 10 per leg

Last time the left knee caved inward. This time less load and attention on keeping the knee in line with the toes.

A sample from the portal. The values are made up.

Live session: the plan in your phone

During the session you have the plan open in your phone and tick off what is done. For each exercise you note the weight and reps and mark how hard it felt.

Each exercise has a description and often a video, so you don't have to ask how it's done. That matters most when you train without me. For those sessions there are also quick buttons, More next time, Less next time and Pain, so you don't have to write to me afterwards.

Everything saves itself as you go. Afterwards a record stays of what was actually done, with the weights and with what you didn't get to. That's what I build the next one from.

Tuesday 19 Aug, 60 min

Squat, swing and core

Block A, legs, 3 rounds, A1 and A2 back to back

Goblet squat ✓ done

Kettlebell 16 kg, 10 reps

Kettlebell swing

Kettlebell 16 kg, 12 reps

Weight, reps, how it went

Measurements side by side

A single measurement doesn’t say much on its own. It starts to make sense once there are several side by side and you can see the direction.

Every measurement comes with a written conclusion in plain words: what the numbers mean, where there's room and what it means for your training. Not a printout of values nobody knows what to do with.

3 Feb14 May19 Aug
Weight72.4 kg71.8 kg−0.671.9 kg+0.1
Muscle mass30.1 kg31.0 kg+0.932.2 kg+1.2
Body fat19.8 kg18.2 kg−1.616.9 kg−1.3

Same weight, a different body. In half a year two kilos of muscle up and almost three kilos of fat down, while the scales showed half a kilo of difference. Going by weight alone, it would look like half a year without results.

A sample from the portal. The values are made up.

Everything in one place

Plans as PDFs, measurements, confirmations. Nothing gets lost in your inbox and you don’t have to look for anything.

Every plan is one PDF. When I rewrite it, the new version replaces the old one in the portal. I keep the earlier wording on my side.

Feedback both ways

After a session you can write how it went: what hurt, what went better than last time, what you figured out. I use it for the next plan, it isn't a formality.

How you get in

I set up your access when we start training together. You sign in with your email, either with a one-time code or with a password you choose. Nothing to install, it works in the browser on your phone and computer.

Health data such as measurements, injuries and limitations can be seen only by you and me. They're never published and never sent anywhere.

The app is on its way

The portal runs in the browser and will keep doing so. Alongside it, a phone app is in the works: today’s plan as soon as you open it, without signing in every time.

it's being written by a developer I train with, and it's built on the same portal. That's the important part: the plans in it'll be mine, put together for one specific person after a session, not assembled from an exercise catalogue based on what you ticked. The app is a way to have them closer to hand. It doesn't replace the trainer.

it'll be free for the clients I train regularly. It isn't an extra subscription, it's part of the training. And you can use it at home too. You open my plan anywhere, no need to go to the gym for it.

I'm aiming for this winter. When it's ready, I'll let you know in the portal and screenshots will appear here. Until then, the portal has everything.
